Sealing your Blade

If you regularly remove your rubbers, you might find that sometimes you pull off some of the fibres when you remove the rubber, especially when a strong glue was used. Blade Sealing puts a light layer of a type of varnish on the surface of the blade, thin enough so that it does not affect the feel or performance of the blade, but enough to help strengthen the surface of the blade to prevent splintering.

OOAK Shop offer a free blade sealing service, which helps protect your blade from splintering. We use the Donic Blade Lacquer to seal your blade and provide a good level of protection.

Note: Sealing the blade won't guarantee that splintering does not occur anymore, but it adds a great layer of protection!

Note2: Many blades do not require this, but some are particularly vulnerable to splintering, which is why we offer this free service.

Note3: A sealed blade makes the blade surface smoother, so the glue bond to the rubber will not be as strong. For rubbers that are hard to glue (like pimples without sponge), a non-sealed blade can be a better option, as the rubber to blade adhesion will be stronger.
