The pimples of the Wyvern have exactly the same dimensions as those of the Waran. So they are very short, have a conical shape and ribbed pimple tops. The rubber compound of the Wyvern is quite different though.  It has more grip than the rubber compound of the Waran, and it is also softer and much slower. We can give you the hint that we used the rubber compound of the long pimple-out rubber Strahlkraft for this rubber.

The sponge of the Wyvern is the same expensive High-Tech sponge that has been recently newly developed for the pimple-inn rubber Ozelot. That means that the sponge is medium-hard, very fast and includes a strong built-in speed-gluing effect without "factory-tuning". By the way this sponge is also the sole reason for the Wyvern being so expensive. But without this sponge, the Wyvern would not be a good rubber and would make no sense.

The result of this combination is a rubber which speed is generated almost only by the sponge. This kind of rubber has the main advantage, that it can absorb speed very well when playing passive strokes.

In total the Wyvern is a little bit faster than the Waran, but slower than the Waran II. Please note that the difference in speed between 1,5 and 2,0 mm is larger than usual.

The Wyvern can create more spin and is more versatile to play than any other short pimple-out rubber. The control values are very high, and it is also a very reliable rubber that is easy to master. For playing powerful shots the Wyvern is not as good as the Waran, but for everything else it is better without being totally different.

The Wyvern has been developed for and with a new generation of professional players, who use a short pimple-out rubber both for attacking and defending. These players can use the Wyvern for chopping like a long pimple-out rubber but can also play powerful counter-attacks with it when needed.

The Wyvern does have 2 drawbacks: It is a little bit heavier than most short pimple-out rubbers (the weight of this rubber is similar to the weight of the Waran II). And although the quality of the Wyvern is good, it is not better in quality than our cheaper rubbers (the pimples are very durable, but the sponge can rip rather easily when the rubber is pulled off the blade).
